Reader’s Question: Are Free VPNs Safe for Macs?

This week, we will answer a reader’s question. If you would like to ask us a network security-related question, drop us a line at editor@vpnhaus.com.
Dear VPN Haus,
Dear Overwhelmed,
Free VPNs for Macs are a dime-a-dozen. But here’s something to think about. If you’ll be transmitting to or from government entities with your VPN, we highly recommend investing in an external, paid VPN.
Why? So many free options aren’t compliant with the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). All data that is used by non-military government agencies and contractors are required to comply with FIPS. You can get more information on it here.
In the meantime, Mac’s two-finger scroll will probably change your life. Enjoy.
